General Patton's Letter Defending Sherman Tank

I found this interesting online book today: THE ORDNANCE DEPARTMENT: ON BEACHHEAD AND BATTLEFRONT

Chapter 17 "Lessons of the Roer and the Ardennes" contains quite a bit regarding the Ordnance Dept and late war US tank design.

I stumbled across this book while trying to find this old newspaper cartoon from 1945.

Here is a link to the Newspaper article describing General Patton's defense of the Sherman tank.  I suspect it was this public statement in defense of the Sherman that is responsible for a good deal of the "Patton was responsible for the delay in M-26 deployment" myth.
